So last night we worked on two knee shield passes.
The first one was assuming that their shield knee was fairly vertical , and not too far across your body. You would take the hand on that side and grab the hem of their pants and work to straighten their leg and then move your belly button around their knee cap and you would end up with your belly button against the top of their thighs and your farside ribs on their waist . You could then work your trapped foot free and come into side mount.
The second one was in case they brought their knee too far across your body while resisting the first one. You would sprawl your belly down on their knee and straighten your legs out comma free your leg and then move to the side control.
I think using a light touch and being more mobile while rolling will be more productive and also take less energy.
